Auction Sells 114 Acres of Downtown Land for $5 Million

ABQjournal West_News: Auction Sells 114 Acres of Downtown Land: "A high profile auction Saturday of a 114-acre chunk of land near Rio Rancho's City Hall drew dozens of observers but few participants.
Only a dozen of the roughly 60 people who attended the auction held at the Albuquerque Marriott hotel paid the $20,000 upfront fee to qualify as bidders, according to Paul Taylor, of Roswell-based Ranchline Auction, which organized the event.
Ranchline publicized the event with a 28-page color brochure, billboards and print ads in newspapers nationwide.
Ken Rice of Kerrville, Texas was the top bidder with an offer of $5 million for the site as a whole. That breaks down to about $44,000 per acre."
