There is Hollywood and there is Bollywood, how about Rioranchowood or Riowood? No I guess not, it sounds kind of funny... anyway, another filmmaker group is looking at the Rio Rancho City Centre area as a possible location for a studio. We have been hearing about Lionsgate for a few years now (hopefully that will get going soon) but now there is this story about a studio wanting to be in the Rio Rancho city center area with them. It's great to be getting these type of announcements (like the Hewlett-Packard deal announced last week) to jumpstart slow home and land sales in Rio Rancho.
Here is the story from the Rio Rancho Journal...
ABQJOURNAL WEST: Filmmakers Have Eye on Downtown RR: "Filmmakers are again looking at building a high-tech studio in Rio Rancho's new downtown."

Brakes Put on Placitas Road
This road would be great for North Rio Rancho residents that need to travel to the East mountains. Also, it will be a way for people that live in the East mountains to travel to Rio Rancho and the Northern Albuquerque area (say... to come to an event at the Santa Ana star center).
Hope the County and the BLM get it figured out.
ABQjournal West_News: Brakes Put on Placitas Road: "Sandoval County staff will postpone any plans for a new road to serve the Placitas area until, at the earliest, the Bureau of Land Management completes its land-use planning for the area, according to Sandoval County spokesman Gayland Bryant.
Bryant said Sandoval County Commissioner Orlando Lucero, whose district includes Placitas and parts of the East Mountains, has asked staff to stop proceeding with plans for the road because of concerns raised by area residents."

Ogden Homes Builds on One-Acre Lots in Rio Rancho
ABQJOURNAL HOMES: Ogden Homes Builds on One-Acre Lots: "Ogden Homes has tapped into a quiet cul-de-sac on the outskirts of Rio Rancho to offer large, single-story homes on 1-acre lots zoned to allow horses.
Company owner Flint Ogden says the combination of both home and lot size has been the appeal for families and empty-nesters making the move to the subdivision the builder has named Cavallo Ranch. A half-dozen lots are still available of the original 11 in this patch of sandy rolling hills south of Unser and Northern."
