The new Presbyterian Hospital in Rio Rancho broke ground last week and plans to be open in 2010. The 66 acre site is east of Unser Blvd, north of Black Arroyo Blvd, and south of the Cabezon master planned community. The plan calls for 120 private patient rooms in 340,000 sf of hospital space, a full-service emergency department with helicopter pad, a medical office building with four floors providing more than 110,000 sf of medical services, and will have more than 140 physicians and 500+ employees. This $200 million project is just the first of two major hospitals coming to Rio Rancho. The University of New Mexico is planning a teaching hospital as part of it's campus in the City Centre area.
