Water is what we'll need & water is what we'll get.

As the city of Rio Rancho continues to grow, it is essential that there should be enough water for all the homes and businesses we have now and much more so, for our future. New home construction keeps flourishing in Rio Rancho and slowly but surely new businesses are arriving too. Rio Rancho recently added a beautiful Lowes home improvement store to the Loma Colorado area and we also have a new WalMart in Bernalillo by Enchanted Hills. The “City of Vision” is going to need water to keep up with its future demands. Looks like there’s water in “them thar hills”! Check out the link below from the Rio Rancho Observer for more info about a deepwater aquifer that may answer Rio Rancho’s water needs.

The Rio Rancho High School Marching Band & Colorguard has a great 2008 season!

Children are a blessing. Now 180 children! Absolutely! Actually, I should say young adults. Working with the Rio Rancho High School Marching Band and Colorguard has been exhausting, but a true joy as well. We had an awesome marching season with a performance called “Echoes”! Rio Rancho should be proud of its kids! We took 1st in the Pageant of Bands hosted by APS, 3rd in the Zia Marching competition hosted by UNM and then 5th in the Pomona Marching Festival in the Denver area. We’ve competed against New Mexico, Texas & Colorado bands. All of our young men and women were fantastic and I’m so happy to have been able to be a part of their season!

Working with all the adults involved with this group is truly amazing. Mr. Schmidt, Head Band Director, has a talent for putting a marching program together season after season along with Director Mr. Casarez and Director Mr. Pena. The Band Boosters are a wonderful group of adults working hard for our band making sure all the needs are met from fund raising to watering the gang during marching practice making sure they don’t get heat stroke to setting up chaperones and more. My work was modest compared to the tremendous work done by the Band Boosters headed by Stacey Templeton. The work that is done is hard, but well worth it because in the end we all love our kids and appreciate the many others involved! Supporting the arts and activities that our students and children do, will always give us the best memories of our lifetime.

Housing permits hit low in Sept. - Loma Colorado Most Active

Yes… this headline looks like bad news, and for the home builders it is. The slowdown in home construction impacts jobs and limits the choices for home buyers. But… the good news is that builders are not building homes that they can’t sell. A glut of inventory does not help anyone. I think the Home Builders in Albuquerque and Rio Rancho have done a good job adjusting to the real estate market and not “over building”. The numbers just reflect the realities on the market. We have also seen a trend with builders adding smaller, more affordable homes to their line-ups.
One thing I have noticed is that resale home prices are more attractive than the new construction in many cases. Many of the resale homes on the market today could not be built for the prices they are selling for.

Housing permits hit 12 month low in Sept. - New Mexico Business Weekly:: "Pulte Home's Loma Colorado community in Rio Rancho was the most active of the 55 residential subdivisions under construction. There were nine permits pulled for Loma Colorado."
