City Manager Calls for Budget Cuts

Budget cuts are affecting everyone including Rio Rancho City Hall. News from the Rio Rancho Journal mentions that Rio Rancho City Manager James Jimenez is asking for ways to cut their budget by 5 percent. Hopefully, with the future of development for the City Center and the continued hunt for new economic growth, budget cuts will be a thing of the past. Overcoming budget shortfalls and looking ahead to the future with hard work, Rio Rancho will continue onward and upward. How quickly this happens...we'll just have to wait and see.

Five Years Of Rio Rancho News

Rosalie Rayburn from the Rio Rancho Journal put together a summary of Rio Rancho news for the past five years (since the RR Journal started being published). Yes, we have seen our ups and downs but the prospects for the city are great. We are excited about future. No, I don’t have rose colored glasses on… Even with the decline in Rio Rancho home sales (just like everywhere) things look bright. RR is a great place to live with a low cost of living. More Businesses, Schools, and Hospitals will be coming into Rio Rancho over the next five years and will provide the catalyst to move the city forward.

Here is the article… ABQJOURNAL RIO RANCHO: New Downtown, Population Growth Among Top Stories: "It's been a roller coaster ride for the city in the five years since the Rio Rancho Journal first hit the stands."

Sandoval Approves Hikes Across Board

Tax Increases Approved by Sandoval County Voters:

Sandoval County Voters & home owners will have some tax increases to think about in the near future. These tax increases will mostly be a reflection of the outcome of voter approval Tuesday on the Mil Levy for Hospital and Health Care contracts along with an increase of the gross receipts tax for public transportation systems. This will impact Rio Rancho home owners and home owners throughout Sandoval County who have an assessed home value of $100,000 with a rather substantial increase of $141.66 per year for 8 years. Obviously, the higher the assessed value, the higher your taxes will increase.
